In July 2023, I quit my job to travel the world. Bali was the first destination and I quickly realised that chasing waterfalls was my newest passion. There is really something special about admiring impressive falls in a green environment.
In total, I visited 8 waterfalls and I loved them all! Make sure to screenshot your favourite ones as I’ll share some practical tips as well.
Let’s go chase waterfalls!
…
1. Sekumpul Waterfall
Starting off strong with the highest waterfall in Bali: Sekumpul Waterfall. With its 80 meters in height, this one will take your breath away. This is by far the favourite fall I’ve ever seen.
Note that you won’t be allowed to hike down to the waterfall yourself. A guide is mandatory, which drives up the price. However, it’s really worth the visit!
Be aware of registration scams. It’s basically a group of locals that will stop you on the side of the road and ask you for a (high) registration fee. Unfortunately, we got trapped by this group and the starting price was 250K IDR per person. We knew this was not the correct price and started to leave, whereafter they dropped the price to 150K. Even though we felt bad for being scammed, we still enjoyed the hike & waterfall a lot.
- Entrance price: 150K IDR per person (including Fiji Waterfall – see number 2) – the official prices are 20K / 125K / 200K depending on the package (2023)
- Parking price: included in the entrance ticket
- Best time to visit: early morning, to beat the warmer weather during the hike
- Hike: 45 minutes, a bit steep.

2. Fiji Waterfall
Only a 10-minute hike from Sekumpul Waterfall, you’ll find Fiji Waterfall. This one is frequently overlooked, but is really impressive and definitely worth the visit as you get to admire 4 falls next to each other.
- Entrance price: 150K IDR per person (including Sekumpul Waterfall – see number 1) – the official prices are 20K / 125K / 200K depending on the package (2023)
- Parking price: included in the entrance ticket
- Best time to visit: early morning, to beat the warmer weather during the hike
- Hike: 10 minutes from Sekumpul Waterfall

3. Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall
The Banyu Wana Amertha Waterfall trail is located 30 minutes from Munduk. The entrance ticket allows you to see 4 different waterfalls. You can hike the trail or sit on the back of a scooter for an extra fee.
- Entrance price: 40K IDR per person
- Parking price (scooter): 2K IDR
- Best time to visit: all day
- Hike: 20 minutes
…
4. Banyumala Twin Waterfalls
Banyumala Twin Waterfalls are the most popular falls in Munduk and they will not disappoint.
We arrived around 9AM and it was already pretty full, or at least for North Bali terms. There are flat rocks around the falls which makes it a perfect spot to relax and hang out for a bit while enjoying these stunning waterfalls.
- Entrance price: 50K IDR per person
- Parking price (scooter): 2K IDR
- Best time to visit: early morning – lovely to chill here during the day
- Hike: 15 minutes – pretty easy
…
5. Gitgit Waterfall
Gitgit Waterfall is known by its stunning gate in front of the waterfall. With its 35 meters, this fall will take your breath away! Even though it’s not that popular with tourists, I found it to be one of the most beautiful waterfalls in North Bali.
Also: be aware of the guide scam. You do NOT need a guide to reach this waterfall. If someone approaches you in the parking lot, just decline politely and keep walking.
- Entrance price: 20K IDR per person
- Parking price (scooter): 2K IDR
- Best time to visit: all day
- Hike: easy – 15 minutes.
…
6. Leke Leke Waterfall
Another popular waterfall is Leke Leke. Because of its unique shape in a secluded area, it gains a lot of popularity among tourists. It was pretty crowded when we visited in the afternoon, but it was still a magical place to explore.
- Entrance price: 50K IDR per person
- Parking price (scooter): free
- Best time to visit: as early as possible to beat the crowds
- Hike: 15 minutes – easy
…
7. Kanto Lampo Waterfall
This fall was the busiest one that we visited. It’s a 45-minute drive from Ubud and close to Tibumana Waterfall (number 8), so very easy to combine those two.
Note that this spot is not really suitable for swimming and there will most likely be a (long) line to take pictures. You can ask a local to take your picture in exchange for a small tip afterwards. They do know what they are doing. I’ll let the results speak for themselves.
- Entrance price: 20K IDR per person
- Parking price (scooter): free
- Best time to visit: early morning
- Hike: very easy, 5-10 minutes
…
8. Tibumana Waterfall
Last one on the list: Tibumana Waterfall. This one is located very close to Kanto Lampo waterfall, but far more quiet. This fall is very accessible and great for swimming as well.
- Entrance price: 20K IDR per person
- Parking price (scooter): free
- Best time to visit: all day
- Hike: very easy, 5-10 minutes
