If the weather allows it, going to the beach in the different towns is one of the most fun things to do in Cinque Terre. But note: the only sandy beaches are located in Monterosso Al Mare. The other ones have a rocky/stony beach or can be found at a harbour quay, which is technically not a beach but that’s the charm of Cinque Terre.
Here are the best beaches to visit on your next trip!

1. Monterosso Beach
There are two sandy beaches in Cinque Terre and they both can be found in Monterosso al Mare.
- Monterosso Beach Fegina – right in front of the train station
- Monterosso Beach – located in the old town and a 10-15min walk from the train station
Both beaches have private and public areas. The public areas are limited though, so be early to claim a spot. If you want to rent a beach chair and chill out for the day, these beaches are the best (and only) place to do that in Cinque Terre.

2. Vernazza Harbour
Moving North, you’ll cross the town of Vernazza. Head over to the harbour and you’ll find many ladders to enter the water. This is a fun place to hang out as it offers many spots to lay down & sunbath and going for a refreshing dip as well. Aside from Monterosso beach, this is the easiest place to enter the water.

3. Corniglia Beach
The town of Corniglia is the least popular of the five due to the fact it is not that easy to get to compared to the other towns. The road to the centre contains a lot(!) of stairs.
When I did a boat trip, the boat instructor recommended this as the best beach area in Cinque Terre. I did make it to the city centre of Corniglia but unfortunately didn’t go to the beach. From what I saw on the boat, this beach is very quiet and secluded. It has a stone rock formation and seems to be the ideal place if you want to skip the crowds.

4. Manarola Beach
The next beach on our list is located in the town of Manarola. This town offers many spots that are perfect for sunbathing, swimming and people watching. If you exit the train station and head over to the little marina, you’ll find a large rock formation where you can sunbath and enter the water. If you follow the walking path on your right and cross the viewpoint, you’ll find another area that is less busy and equally beautiful.

5. Riomaggiore Beach
Riomaggiore is the Southernmost village in Cinque Terre. The small harbour offers a spot to enter the water, but I recommend to follow the walking path on your left where you’ll reach the stony beach of Riomaggiore.
